Inmost Calm

Tempests tremble and torment —
Limbs like lead,
Worn with weight
Bleeding, beaten..

but Bold:

Perfect peace persists:
To Christ I cling—
Who calms my core and
Holds my head, my hand,
Carries my cares, my cross.

The Sanctification of Motherhood

Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bones:
You milk my mind, my mould, my moons…
My self now lost
to nest, to nurture, to nourish;
To make you I must break,
and surrender,
— to be remade, wholly.

(Like Christ) I’ll seek to offer my all
that you might live.

I’ll stretch, and scar, and sway,
sleepless, to hold your fumbling frame.
‘Til fed, and fortified, you’ll finally fly, flourished.

Word War

Shall we not surrender
the sticks and stones and seek to salve?

Instead, a fear filled frenzy of foes…
Each writhes with a righteous mind
weaponing wounding words.

Hasn’t history hindered our hostility?

Hear humbly a hurting heart of humanity.
Every creature alike —
chronically craves His cleanse.
Come, tread the treacherous trench
together?

We were designed to dance despite the dissonance.

Sand Pit

I watch it all slip
Through my hands like
Sand,
sifting slowly
sinking
Down falling
Fast
.
—oh,
but
a
few
grains remain,
Caught
between my fingers…
For now.

{What a joke! I never “held” a thing.

I simply scooped a few
fists-full
out of His hands,
Frantically
gathering what I (thought) I could grasp whilst
He
was holding me.}

I release the rest…
He remains, unmoved.

And here I shall abide: hopeful —
And held.

The Rock.
All other: sinking sand…

Know One Another

What if we all stopped being afraid to
know each other
deeply?
as brothers,
as sisters —
as one
in Christ —
to see, and seek to find
the full-potential
in another soul?
Oh to know,
and to be known
fearlessly.
…But to know another you must
know yourself
in the One whom
you are known.
