When I Reflect

When I reflect upon my passing years—
Rememb’ring how this Love has carried me
Through trials, suffering, laughter, joy, tears,
Thick veils of doubt and fear shrivel and flee;
My soul is sure of hope and future days.
Yielding to You every waking moment,
I’m guided through this mysterious maze
Of life and love and lingering laments.
While to earth’s brief joys I say, “au revoir,“
You lift me over every steep and slope
And quiet me to listen now and hear
Unsung melodies of lingering hope.
Equip me now to hold Your shiftless gaze,
And solely, let You set my heart ablaze.

I am

I am a product of wooded driveways,
Warm stone steps,
Early morning mist,
Winter fires in living rooms,
Light melodies of winsome children and strings,
And the echo of rain on tin roofs.
Also, of silent poetry.

Lift Up Your Gaze

Lift up your gaze
To seek the One
Who beholds you

Tread through the haze
To find the One
Who moulds you

Let your heart blaze
And trust the One
Who knows You

Waste not your days;
Treasure the One
Who upholds you.
